About Studio Primrose
Laura Brewer, the owner and artistic muse of Studio Primrose, has been teaching and working in the creative and decorative arts industry for twenty years. Many students have been taking workshops with Laura since she opened her first store, Primrose Cottage, in 1992. They know that Laura is dedicated to providing exceptional and thorough instruction that is fun and inspires her students’ creative energies to flow.
Laura is so pleased to announce the opening of Studio Primrose at The Rustic Hutch in Mesa, Arizona in addition to Laguna Niguel, CA. It is certainly keeping Laura busy commuting between CA and AZ. (Thank goodness for SiriumXM!)
As you begin browsing our workshop calendar, you may notice that our workshop offerings are very eclectic! One of Laura’s passions is to create an environment where students find and express their “inner artist”...whether it be through participating in one of our professional, Advanced or DIY faux finishing workshops or our decorative arts workshops which include painting, mosaic, collage, decoupage, stencilling, mixed-media art, soldered art, precious metal clay, jewelry-making and more. Whether you are a seasoned professional faux finisher or a homeowner who wants to learn DIY finishes and techniques, Laura’s goal is to provide the techniques, nuances, tools and products needed to re-create and execute cabinet and wall finishes on real-world surfaces with confidence!
At Studio Primrose, we believe it is imperative that only the finest products should be used for all projects. Therefore, we are excited to be affiliated with Modern Masters, Inc. as one of their international network of Platinum Training Centers (PTC), offering workshops in Shizen Japanese plasters, Bellezza authentic venetian plasters, and awesome metallic plasters, paints, glazing products and more. Because working with materials that are both people and eco-friendly has always been one of Laura’s personal goals, it really can’t get much better!
Painting Made Easy! with CeCe Caldwell Clay-Chalk paints. These chalk and clay based paints are such fun to work with and come in awesome colors! Minimal prep is required for most surfaces, and they are people and eco-friendly too.
Olde Century Simulated Milk Paints create gorgeous furniture and cabinet painted finishes. Laura has been working with these paints for over 20 years!
Laura loves playing in "mud". So creating and teaching concrete overlay countertops using Skimstone and Milestone products are just a natural! Architexture Inc’s "The New Fresco" Tattoowall certification workshops will be on the Fall calendar.
We are always searching for great tools and products that make the project easier while maintaining the high level of quality finishes that clients expect and deserve. As a licensed specialty finish/painting contractor, Laura teaches with the same products she uses in her own contracting projects.
