Laura Brewer has been teaching and working in the creative and decorative arts industry for over twenty years. Many students have been taking workshops with Laura since she opened her first store, Primrose Cottage, in 1992. They know that Laura is dedicated to providing exceptional and thorough instruction that is fun and inspires her students’ creative energies to flow.
2013 has been a year of exciting changes! Studio Primrose now has two locations...Orange, CA and Mesa, AZ.
After over 20 years of serving the South Orange County area, Laura has relocated her Laguna Niguel studio to Orange. Studio Primrose is now a part of a delightful shop in Orange...Dragonfly Shops and Gardens.
Laura gathered a group of very talented friends and artisans to share the room or "petite boutique" at Dragonfly. Collectively, they have become "The Artsy Gals". Laura represents her favorite furniture painting products...CeCe Caldwell Chalk and Clay Paints, Olde Century Colors Milk Paints, Modern Masters Platinum cabinet finishing line, and Final Coat varnish. The "Artsy Gals" fill the room with their individual artistic styles, including painted furniture, signs, decorative pieces, soldered "message" bottles, and more! Please come by and check us out.
Laura is very excited to bring many of her most popular workshops to Dragonfly. Her workshops are listed here as well as on the Dragonfly Shops and Gardens website. Dragonfly is well known for the awesome workshops they offer to their customers.
When Laura is in Arizona, her friend, Marge Cunningham, will be keeping everything flowing smoothly and presenting furniture painting demonstrations at Dragonfly.
In February of this year, Laura opened a studio within another awesome shop,The Rustic Hutch, in Mesa, AZ. It is certainly keeping Laura busy commuting between CA and AZ. (Thank goodness for SiriumXM!) As you begin browsing our workshop calendar, you may notice that our workshop offerings are very eclectic! One of Laura’s passions is to create an environment where students find and express their “inner artist”...whether it be through participating in one of our professional, Advanced or DIY faux finishing workshops or our decorative arts workshops which include painting, mosaic, collage, decoupage, stencilling, mixed-media art, soldered art, precious metal clay, jewelry-making and more. Come join us for these workshops and "Unleash your Inner Artist!" Whether you are a seasoned professional faux finisher or a homeowner who wants to learn DIY finishes and techniques, Laura’s goal is to provide the techniques, nuances, tools and products needed to re-create and execute cabinet and wall finishes on real-world surfaces with confidence!
At Studio Primrose, we believe it is imperative that only the finest products should be used for all projects. Therefore, we are excited to be affiliated with Modern Masters, Inc. as one of their international network of Platinum Training Centers (PTC), offering workshops in Shizen Japanese plasters, Bellezza authentic venetian plasters, and awesome metallic plasters, paints, glazing products and more. Because working with materials that are both people and eco-friendly has always been one of Laura’s personal goals, it really can’t get much better!
Painting Made Easy! with CeCe Caldwell Clay-Chalk paints. These chalk and clay based paints are such fun to work with and come in awesome colors! Minimal prep is required for most surfaces, and they are people and eco-friendly too.
Olde Century Simulated Milk Paints create gorgeous furniture and cabinet painted finishes. Laura has been working with these paints for over 20 years!
Laura loves playing in "mud". So creating and teaching concrete overlay countertops using Skimstone and Milestone products are just a natural! Please refer to the Advanced Faux page of our website for in-depth descriptions of our Professional and advanced workshops. Architexture Inc’s "The New Fresco" Tattoowall certification workshops will be on the Fall calendar.
