Allow me introduce myself...
Hi! I am one very lucky girl to been able to do what I love for the last 30 years...
My unexpected creative journey began with a "decorative painting" workshop I took with my mom in 1985. At that time, I had a full time corporate position and didn't believe I had any creative talents whatsoever. My only intention was to have some quality time with my mom.
Much to my surprise, I loved the workshop, and dove in with everything I had! I had also tapped into something completely unexpected...a creative side I didn't know was hiding inside.
It is because of my own creative journey, that I am so motivated to offer a studio where people gather, create together, and...to quote one of my students...have a little "creative therapy".
My creative journey led me to open my first store, Primrose Cottage, in Mission Viejo, CA. In addition to selling vintage style gifts, unique jewelry, and home decor, a small group of us taught an eclectic mix of workshops, including faux finishing and furniture painting, decorative painting, decoupage, mosaic, floral, soldering and jewelry making workshops.
In 2001, I closed the home decor side of my business and focused on teaching. Through this, Studio Primrose began. Faux finished walls as part of interior design was just beginning to explode and I was quite fortunate to be mentored and trained by some of the best people and companies in the industry. This led me to becoming a licensed contractor, painting cabinets, troweling European plasters and specialty wall finishes and decorative concrete floors in my clients' homes and businesses. When I wasn't working on my clients' projects, I was in my studio teaching workshops.
Fast forward to 2013...our decision to move to Mesa, AZ, opened the opportunity to continue to do what I love...open a small shop and studio inside another home decor shop, The Rustic Hutch.
Studio Primrose, the teaching and DIY part of my business, opened as a "furniture paint boutique and DIY studio". Primrose Home, the home decor and gift side of my business, offers my students and customers a beautiful selection of cottage-style home decor, florals, and gift items to decorate their homes...often complementing the pieces they have created using the techniques and products they have used in one of my workshops.
I have been so fortunate to have received such a warm welcome and response to my workshops...ultimately building wonderful new relationships with my new customers and friends.
If you are in the Mesa, AZ area, I hope you will stop by and say "Hi!"
And stay connected with me at @studioprimrose on both Facebook and Instagram. I will be announcing some exciting new workshops beginning Spring 2024!
